IGP Redeploys Nine AIGs in Major Police Shake-up

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun’s successor, Tunji Disu, has approved the immediate redeployment of nine Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to strategic commands and formations across the country in a major reorganisation of the Nigeria Police Force.

The postings were conveyed in a “Most Immediate” wireless signal issued by the Force Secretariat in Abuja on Monday and addressed to all police departments, zonal commands, state commands, specialised formations and training institutions for immediate implementation.

According to the directive, AIG Polycarp Emeka Nwonyi has been posted to Zone 9 Command, Umuahia, while AIG Obono Nnaghe Itam takes over as Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos.

AIG Bassey Samuel Ewa was redeployed to Zone 15 Command, Maiduguri, while AIG Osagie John Agans-Irabor was posted to Zone 3 Command, Yola.

Also affected by the reshuffle are AIG Monday Agbonika, who will head Zone 5 Command, Benin, and AIG Daniel Edobor Iyamah, who has been appointed AIG in charge of the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

AIG Isah Danladi Nda has been redeployed to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Kaduna, while AIG Akaniyene Ifebem Ezima has been posted to the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), Abuja.

Similarly, AIG Bello Rashid Afegbua will now head Zone 6 Command, Calabar, while AIG Betty Enekpen Otimenyin has been appointed AIG for Zone 8 Command, Lokoja.

The Force Headquarters directed the relevant departments responsible for personnel, establishment and computer records to update official records in line with the new postings.

The redeployment signal was circulated to the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Departments of Operations, Finance and Administration, Information and Communication Technology, all 17 zonal commands, Commissioners of Police in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, tactical units, police colleges and training institutions nationwide for immediate compliance.

The latest postings are part of the Inspector-General’s ongoing efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and reposition the Force through strategic deployment of senior officers to key commands and formations across the country.
