Interface Africa, led by Chief Executive Al’amin Muhammed Idris, has emerged victorious at the NextGen Innovation Challenge, claiming a £1.5 million prize at the event’s finale held at Hilton London Paddington on Thursday. Representing Kaduna State, the company’s win focuses on its impactful work delivering affordable solar financing to small African businesses.

In a statement, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s hearty congratulations to Interface Africa for this achievement. Bayo Onanuga highlighted President Tinubu’s view that the award will propel Interface Africa’s efforts to broaden clean energy access in underserved African communities. “President Tinubu commends Interface Africa for its effort in providing affordable solar financing to small businesses in Africa,” the statement read.

The NextGen Innovation Challenge, spearheaded by the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) in partnership with UKALD London, draws inspiration from President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda targeting the harnessing of Nigerian youths’ innovation capabilities. President Bola Tinubu expressed confidence in Nigerian youth, stating their innovative potential is boundless, warranting deliberate policies to tap this resource, Bayo Onanuga relayed.

Beyond Interface Africa’s win, President Tinubu extended commendations to the other 104 participants of the challenge. Bayo Onanuga quoted the President as encouraging innovators to persist in creating solutions that uplift lives and contribute meaningfully to humanity’s progress. Interface Africa’s triumph underscores President Tinubu’s administration focus on nurturing innovation aligned with national development aspirations.
