Nigerian Judiciary Mourns as Justice Mohammed Yunusa Passes Away
The Federal High Court of Nigeria has announced the death of one of its judges, Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa, who served in the Kano Judicial Division.
According to an official statement issued by the court’s Director of Information, Catherine Oby Christopher, the jurist passed away on May 21, 2026, after a brief illness. He died at the State Medical Centre in Kano and has since been buried in line with Islamic rites.
Justice Yunusa was widely regarded as a dedicated and principled member of the Bench, known for his integrity and commitment to the administration of justice. His contributions to the judiciary and the legal profession were described as significant and enduring.
The leadership and staff of the Federal High Court expressed deep sorrow over his passing, extending condolences to his family, colleagues, and all who worked closely with him.
The court also offered prayers for the repose of his soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus
