Jide Oyekunle further described Late Elder Sule as a committed veteran who was always ready to lend a helping hand to colleagues. “He was not just a professional colleague but a friend to many, and his sense of humility, kindness and dedication will be remembered,” he added.

The NUJ FCT Council has lost an industrious, notable, and active member, with Jide Oyekunle noting that Late Elder Sule played a pivotal role in “peace making” and upholding the values that define the union. “Your unwavering commitment to ethical standards is a testament of the passion that you have for the journalism profession,” Jide Oyekunle said, quoting part of the tribute.

Late Elder Sule had a distinguished career in journalism, beginning with the Nigerian Observer Newspaper and later becoming the Chief Press Secretary to the then Minister of Information in the Second Republic, Garba Wushishi. He was also the former Chairman of the Press Center Management Committee of the NUJ FCT Council and the publisher of the Nigerian Environment Newspaper. At the time of his death, he was the Chief Executive Officer of FirstAll Online Media.

The council receives the news of his death with rude shock and is yet to come to terms with the reality of his sudden passing. Jide Oyekunle extended the council’s deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his life, praying that God gives them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
