Osun 2026: INEC Says 1.9m PVCs Collected Ahead of Saturday’s Governorship Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

The figure represents 81.50 per cent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the state.

In a statement issued on Thursday by Mohammed Haruna, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the commission said 432,843 PVCs, representing 18.50 per cent of the registered voters, remained uncollected.

INEC said the uncollected cards had been safely deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in line with its established procedure.

The commission also disclosed that some voters whose PVCs were lost, damaged or defaced applied for replacements. Of those applicants, 6,101 successfully printed downloadable copies of their PVCs.

INEC said a polling-unit-by-polling-unit breakdown of the PVCs collected had been published to promote transparency in the electoral process.

With the Osun governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, the commission assured political parties, civil society organisations, the media and residents of its readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive election.

The latest PVC figures provide an indication of the number of registered voters positioned to participate in the closely watched governorship contest.

The announcement comes as INEC and security agencies intensify preparations across the state ahead of the poll.
