Police Arrest Suspect Over Killing of 18-Year-Old

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Johnson Daniel for allegedly stabbing an 18-year-old, Ariyo Amos Timilehin, to death during a dispute in Owo, Owo Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Akure, the state capital.

According to Jimoh, preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred on March 6, 2026, following a heated argument between the victim and the suspect.

“The command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the alleged murder of Ariyo Amos Timilehin after a violent altercation in Owo,” he said.

He explained that the victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, where a doctor confirmed him dead on arrival.

Jimoh added that police detectives visited the scene and recovered the knife believed to have been used in the attack, while the suspect was immediately taken into custody.

The police spokesperson further noted that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

While commiserating with the family of the deceased, the command urged members of the public to avoid resorting to violence when resolving disputes.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the suspect and the victim were known to be close friends and were often seen together within the neighbourhood before the tragic incident.
