President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate employment of 210 outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members into the federal civil service. The decision was made in appreciation of their service to the nation. Each of the awardees will receive ₦250,000 and a fully funded postgraduate scholarship.

The honorees, drawn from the 2020 to 2023 service years, were celebrated at the Presidential NYSC Honours Award in Abuja. Two hundred were recognised for excellence during their service year, while ten were honoured under the NYSC Hope Alive Initiative for sustaining permanent disabilities while serving.

Represented by the Minister of State for Labour, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, the President praised their patriotism and integrity, and reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment through job creation, education, and innovation. The President directed the Head of the Civil Service and the Civil Service Commission to begin immediate onboarding.

NYSC Director General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu called the awardees “heroes of the Republic” and welcomed ongoing reforms, including the ₦77,000 allowance and access to health and tech support for serving corps members. The President’s decision is seen as a boost to the youth, providing them with opportunities for growth and development in the federal civil service.
