ATIKU SLAMS TINUBU OVER FRANCE TRIP, CALLS FOR STATE OF EMERGENCY
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s recent trip to France, describing it as “absurd” and “contemptuous”. Atiku questioned the justification for the trip, citing the country’s security and economic challenges. Paul Ibe, Atiku’s Media Office Director, in a statement, said the trip was a “vacation cloaked in official jargon”. “What kind of leader borrows billions only to blow scarce funds on vanity trips abroad?” Paul Ibe asked. He emphasized that Nigeria is in a “full-blown state of emergency”. Paul Ibe further highlighted the country’s security challenges, including the killings in Plateau and Benue, and Boko Haram’s territorial gains. “If Tinubu had even a shred of empathy, he would cut his trip short and return immediately,” he said. Paul Ibe concluded by questioning when Tinubu would declare a state of emergency on his own presidency.
