ATIKU’S AIDE DENIES 2027 PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRATIONS, CITES OLD VIDEO FOOTAGE
Paul Ibe, media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has clarified that his principal is not planning to run for president again in 2027. This comes after a video surfaced on social media where Atiku seemingly discussed making a formal announcement about his political aspirations.

Ibe explained that the video is old and was recorded before the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party presidential primaries. “It is important to provide context to this video to prevent misinterpretation,” Ibe said, urging the public to disregard misleading reports.
According to Ibe, the assertive tone in the footage is typical for a candidate preparing for an election. Atiku served as Nigeria’s Vice President from 1999 to 2007 and has been a prominent figure in Nigerian politics.
Despite Ibe’s clarification, speculation about Atiku’s political future continues to generate interest, especially with the 2027 electoral cycle approaching. Atiku has been actively involved in politics, recently vowing to secure the African Democratic Congress coalition’s presidential ticket for 2027.
