TROOPS REPEL TERRORIST ASSAULT, INFLICT HEAVY LOSSES IN NORTH EAST OPERATIONS

Forces of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have decisively engaged terrorist elements in multiple operations across the North East, inflicting significant casualties and degrading enemy capabilities. This was confirmed in a press release signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Head of Media and Information for the Joint Task Force, North East Headquarters, Operation HADIN KAI, on Thursday. In a series of pre-emptive strikes in the early hours of 28 January, troops of Sector 1 conducted a successful night raid on a terrorist concentration at Bula Dalo. The surprise assault neutralized over twelve (12) terrorists, with surviving elements forced into a disorderly retreat. The operation yielded substantial arms recoveries, including four (4) AK-47 rifles, one (1) PKT anti-aircraft gun, one (1) Rocket Propelled Gun, and one (1) multiple grenade launcher. In a follow-up operation at the Garno terrorist camp, Sector 1 troops further dismantled terrorist infrastructure, neutralizing six (6) fighters and destroying their life-support facilities. A large cache of PKT anti-aircraft ammunition was also recovered. In a separate development, troops at a defensive location in Sabon Gari came under a determined attack in the early hours of 29 January. Terrorist forces of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), employing multiple armed drones, briefly breached a segment of the position. Demonstrating exceptional resilience, the troops swiftly contained the incursion, held their ground, and, with timely reinforcement, completely repelled the assault and restored full control of the area. The Joint Task Force, with profound regret, confirms that several courageous troops and members of the supporting Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) paid the supreme price in the course of defending the Sabon Gari location. An excavator and a lowbed trailer were also damaged during the drone attack. The leadership of Operation HADIN KAI commends the extraordinary bravery, professionalism, and sacrifice of its troops and their civilian partners. These operations underscore the unwavering resolve of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and associated security forces to deny terrorists freedom of action, protect citizens, and restore lasting peace and security to the North East region. Operations in the theatre continue unabated.
