Tinubu Receives Outgoing, Incoming Heads of Civil Service at State House

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday received the outgoing Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, and her successor, Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, at the State House in Abuja.

The meeting comes ahead of the formal transition in the leadership of Nigeria’s Federal Civil Service, following President Tinubu’s appointment of Enitan as the next Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

Enitan’s appointment takes effect from August 27, 2026, when he will succeed Walson-Jack, who is due to retire from the Federal Civil Service after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.

The Presidency had described Enitan as the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service. He is currently the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education and has served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months.

During his career, Enitan has served in several strategic government institutions, including the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President.

President Tinubu, in announcing the appointment, commended Walson-Jack for her service to the country, particularly the reforms, innovations and institutional improvements recorded in the Civil Service during her tenure.

He also charged Enitan to sustain and deepen ongoing reforms, strengthen professionalism, efficiency and accountability, and work towards building a more responsive and effective Civil Service capable of supporting the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The State House on Friday released photographs showing Tinubu with Walson-Jack and Enitan during their separate engagements at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting effectively marked a significant stage in the transition from Walson-Jack’s tenure to the incoming administration of Enitan at the apex of Nigeria’s civil service structure.
