Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening governance systems and promoting ethical leadership on the global stage, as President Bola Tinubu addressed world leaders at the Global Council for Political Renewal Conference in Cape Town, South Africa.

Represented by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the President said his administration is advancing transparency, accountability, and institutional efficiency through its Renewed Hope Agenda.

Presenting Nigeria’s position on governance reforms and human rights, Tinubu stressed that responsible political leadership has become imperative in today’s rapidly shifting global landscape. He noted that the federal government is pursuing reforms aimed at modernising public institutions, plugging financial leakages, and ensuring that government policies translate into tangible benefits for citizens.

He also reiterated Nigeria’s alignment with the conference’s focus on dialogue, justice, and peaceful cooperation among nations, highlighting the growing importance of international partnerships amid economic uncertainties and security challenges worldwide.

According to the President, Nigeria stands ready to contribute actively to the development of a global framework centred on ethics, justice, peace, and sustainable development, drawing from its experience as a diverse democracy committed to national unity and inclusion.
