EFCC RELEASES TAMBUWAL ON BAIL AFTER QUESTIONING OVER ₦189 BILLION FRAUD ALLEGATIONS

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has granted bail to former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, after he was questioned over allegations of financial impropriety. Tambuwal is accused of misappropriating approximately ₦189 billion while in office.

According to a source within the EFCC, Tambuwal was released after meeting the necessary bail conditions. “He has been granted administrative bail and will be leaving our headquarters soon after perfecting his bail conditions,” the source said.

The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed Tambuwal’s release but declined to provide further details. Tambuwal had reported to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Monday, August 12, 2025, to answer questions regarding the allegations.
