EDO STATE GOVERNOR MONDAY OKPEBHOLO COMMENDS TEACHERS ON WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY

Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has extended heartfelt appreciation to teachers across the state on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, celebrated on Sunday, October 5, 2025. In a statement, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo, Fred Itua, lauded the dedication and invaluable contributions of educators to Edo State’s development and humanity. Fred Itua highlighted Governor Okpebholo’s recognition of teachers as nation builders, mentors and architects of the future, saying “Our teachers are more than just instructors; they are nation builders, mentors, and the architects of our future. Their tireless efforts and commitment to moulding the next generation of leaders, innovators, and productive citizens are truly commendable”.

Governor Okpebholo acknowledged the pivotal role teachers play under often challenging circumstances in ensuring quality education for every Edo child. Fred Itua stated the administration’s commitment resonates with this year’s celebration theme, emphasizing educational reform success hinges on teacher participation, development and welfare. “The Okpebholo administration is committed to implementing policies that will not only improve the working conditions of our teachers but also enhance their capacity through continuous training and access to modern teaching tools,” Itua noted.

The Governor promised prioritization of prompt salary and allowance payments, better retirement benefits and conducive learning environments across public schools. “To every teacher in our primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions—your impact is immeasurable. The foundation you lay in the lives of our children is what determines the trajectory of our State. I urge you to remain steadfast and committed to upholding the high standards of your profession,” the statement read.
