Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has donated a Toyota Hilux Gun Truck, commonly known as a “technical,” to Orhionmwon Local Government Council to enhance security operations and combat criminal activities in rural communities across the area. Chief Press Secretary to the Orhionmwon Council Chairman, Dennis Ugbudian, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, confirming that the donation forms part of the Governor’s broader strategy to tackle banditry and other security challenges confronting local government areas in the state.

Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the council, the Executive Chairman of Orhionmwon Local Government, Hon. Thompson Osagie, expressed profound appreciation to Governor Okpebholo for what he described as a timely and people-oriented intervention. Hon. Osagie noted that the gun truck arrived at a critical period when the council is intensifying efforts to secure rural hotspots and restore peace to communities plagued by criminal activities. He said the donation underscores Governor Okpebholo’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, particularly in underserved rural areas where security presence has been thin.

The visibly delighted Chairman lauded the Governor’s proactive approach to governance, describing Senator Okpebholo as a visionary and compassionate leader whose actions have renewed the hope and confidence of Edo citizens in government. “This generous donation is a clear testament to Your Excellency’s commitment to the security and well-being of our people. It comes at a time when it is most needed, and we are deeply grateful for your swift response to the security concerns of our rural communities,” Hon. Osagie stated.

He added, “On behalf of the good people of Orhionmwon Local Government Area, I sincerely thank Governor Monday Okpebholo for this invaluable support. Your developmental strides and positive impacts are visible across Edo State, and history will continue to remember your dedication to the service of the people. May Almighty God continue to bless, strengthen, and guide you as you lead our dear state to greater heights.” The Chairman assured residents that the vehicle would be effectively deployed to support security agencies in their operations, with the ultimate goal of enhancing safety and restoring lasting peace across all rural parts of the local government.

Ugbudian further noted that the donation reflects the Governor’s responsive governance and his determination to ensure that no community is left behind in the state’s security architecture. Hon. Osagie reiterated that the local government remains committed to collaborating with the police, military, and other security stakeholders to maximize the impact of the new asset. Ugbudian confirmed that the Chairman had already directed that the gun truck be integrated into ongoing patrol and rapid-response operations immediately, particularly in high-risk rural corridors.
