Orhionmwon Council Boss Hon Thompson Osagie Delivers Free Malaria Care to Over 100 Residents on World Malaria Day
The Executive Chairman of Orhionmwon Local Government Council, Hon. Thompson Osagie, marked World Malaria Day with a comprehensive free medical outreach that impacted communities across the council area. The impactful initiative took place at key health centres in Abudu, Ugo, and Urhonigbe, drawing a significant turnout of residents who benefited from free malaria testing, treatment, and medical consultations.

The outreach not only provided immediate relief to patients but also served as a strategic platform to intensify public awareness on the dangers, prevention, and management of malaria within the community.
In a statement, the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Orhionmwon Local Government Council, Dennis Ugbudian, detailed that the well-coordinated programme recorded remarkable success, with over 100 patients receiving free medical attention, thereby easing the financial burden on families and reinforcing the council’s dedication to improving public health outcomes.
Beneficiaries, overwhelmed with gratitude, commended Hon. Osagie for his proactive leadership and people-oriented policies. They also extended their appreciation to the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his continued support towards strengthening the healthcare system in Orhionmwon.
Speaking during the outreach, the Supervising Councillor for Health and Environment, Hon. Osagie Edughan, lauded the initiative as timely and impactful. He praised the chairman for his consistent investment in the health sector, noting that his background in the medical field has greatly influenced the administration’s strong focus on healthcare. “Since the Chairman assumed office, the health sector has received remarkable attention. His passion for a healthy society is evident, and the people can testify to this.

Today’s turnout and the success of this exercise speak volumes. I also commend our medical personnel for their dedication and the people for coming out in large numbers,” Edughan stated.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Ivie Omozusi, could not hide her excitement as she recounted her experience. She explained that she had suddenly fallen ill earlier in the day and was brought to the health centre by her husband. “I was weak, dizzy, and vomiting this morning. When I got here, I was treated without paying anything. I was surprised and later told it was part of the World Malaria Day programme. I sincerely thank the Chairman for this thoughtful initiative and pray for more strength for him to continue his good work,” she said.
In his remarks, Hon. Thompson Osagie expressed appreciation to the people for their support and encouragement, assuring them that his administration remains committed to inclusive development. “This intervention is only the beginning. Our goal is to ensure that no community in Orhionmwon is left behind. With the continued support and cooperation of our people, we will achieve even greater milestones together,” he affirmed.
Dennis Ugbudian added that the outreach stands as yet another testament to the administration’s dedication to improving the quality of life for residents through accessible and people-centered healthcare initiatives. Ugbudian further noted that the programme recorded overwhelming community participation and praised the medical personnel for their professionalism.
