World Hepatitis Day: Remi Tinubu Calls for Greater Awareness, Early Testing

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to intensify efforts to combat viral hepatitis through increased awareness, early testing, and improved access to treatment.

In her message to commemorate World Hepatitis Day 2026, observed on Tuesday, July 28, Senator Tinubu joined the global community in raising awareness about the disease and the urgent need to expand access to prevention, testing, treatment, and care.

Highlighting this year’s theme, “Hepatitis: Let’s break it down,” the First Lady said the campaign underscores the importance of educating people about viral hepatitis and removing barriers that hinder access to life-saving health services.

She stressed that collective action is essential to reducing stigma, promoting early diagnosis, and strengthening the country’s commitment to eliminating hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030.

“Together, we can reduce stigma, promote early diagnosis, and strengthen our commitment to eliminating hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030,” she said.

Senator Tinubu wished Nigerians a meaningful World Hepatitis Day and reaffirmed the importance of sustained public awareness and coordinated action in the fight against viral hepatitis.
