Idjerhe King Urges Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Probe Campaign Against Tantita Security

The Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, King Obukohwo Monday Whiskey, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to launch an urgent investigation into a faceless group allegedly campaigning for the termination of Tantita Security Services’ operations.

Speaking at his palace in Otorho Idjerhe, Delta State, the monarch expressed concern over what he described as a coordinated effort to undermine the activities of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.

King Whiskey, who also serves as Chairman of the Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSCON) Traditional Leaders and Advisory Council, alleged that individuals behind the campaign are likely involved in illegal oil bunkering and pipeline vandalism.

According to him, the growing opposition to Tantita’s operations raises critical questions, especially as several pipeline surveillance firms operate across Nigeria without facing similar resistance.

He argued that the attacks against Tantita suggest the company’s refusal to compromise its operational standards, particularly in safeguarding national assets in the Niger Delta region.

The traditional ruler further maintained that HOSCON would continue to defend the integrity of Tantita, warning against what he described as the misuse of free speech to discredit the company.

He urged the Federal Government not only to investigate the source of the campaign but also to consider expanding Tantita’s scope of operations to areas still plagued by oil theft and vandalism.

King Whiskey also praised the contributions of Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, whose leadership in pipeline surveillance he said is gaining both national and international recognition.

While acknowledging that concerns or misunderstandings may arise, the monarch emphasized that established channels exist within the Niger Delta for resolving disputes, rather than resorting to media attacks or propaganda.
