Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is reportedly recovering from severe and disfiguring injuries sustained during an airstrike in central Tehran that allegedly killed his father, former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, multiple sources have told international media outlets including Reuters.

According to people described as close to Iran’s inner leadership circle, Khamenei suffered significant facial injuries and damage to one or both legs when the supreme leader’s compound was struck at the onset of the ongoing conflict. The injuries are said to have left his face visibly disfigured.

Despite the severity of the reported wounds, sources claim the 56-year-old leader remains mentally alert and continues to take part in high-level decision-making through remote communication, including audio conferencing with senior officials on matters relating to the war and diplomatic negotiations.

However, his prolonged absence from public appearances has fueled widespread speculation about his condition and the true balance of power within Iran’s political and military structure.

Some reports suggest that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) may currently wield significant influence behind the scenes, as uncertainty grows over the leadership’s stability during the ongoing regional crisis.

Iranian authorities have not publicly confirmed the details surrounding Khamenei’s condition, and independent verification of the claims remains limited.
