Tottenham Hotspur has called for police intervention following what the club described as “vile and dehumanising” racist abuse directed at defender Kevin Danso.

In a strongly worded statement released on Saturday, Tottenham condemned the online attacks targeting the Austrian international, stressing that such behaviour has no place in football or society.

The club confirmed it is working closely with relevant authorities and social media platforms to identify those responsible and ensure appropriate action is taken.

The abuse is believed to have occurred after a recent match, with a wave of racist messages circulating on social media.

Tottenham expressed full support for Danso, reiterating their commitment to standing against all forms of discrimination.

“Racism has no place in our game,” the club said, adding that it would continue to push for stronger measures to hold offenders accountable.

Spurs also urged fans to report any instances of abuse and support efforts to create a more inclusive environment in football.

Danso has not publicly responded in detail but is understood to be receiving support from teammates and club officials.

The incident has sparked wider condemnation across the football community, with calls for tougher sanctions against individuals found guilty of racist behaviour online.

Governing bodies and anti-racism organisations have long warned about the rise of online abuse directed at players, particularly in high-profile leagues like the Premier League.

Campaign groups continue to push for stricter regulation of social media platforms and more robust enforcement of existing laws.

This latest incident adds to a growing list of cases involving racist abuse in football, highlighting ongoing challenges in tackling discrimination despite years of awareness campaigns and policy reforms.
