Shakira, Burna Boy Unveil Official Song for 2026 FIFA World Cup
Global music star Shakira and Nigerian Grammy-winning artiste Burna Boy have released “Dai Dai,” the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup 2026.
The song, released on Friday, is now available on major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music.
Shakira announced the release on her social media platforms, writing: “Dai Dai is here. The @FIFAWorldCup 2026 starts now!”
In a statement shared on its official X handle, FIFA said the track captures the “energy, passion and global spirit” expected to define the tournament.
According to FIFA, “Dai Dai” will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aimed at raising 100 million dollars by the end of the tournament to expand access to education and football opportunities for children worldwide.
The football governing body disclosed that Shakira would donate her royalties from the song to the fund, while Sony Music would match the first 250,000 dollars raised.
The inspirational track celebrates resilience, unity, and ambition, while referencing football icons including Pelé, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah.
Several football nations, including Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, England, France, Spain, South Africa, Japan, Mexico, and the United States, were also mentioned in the lyrics.
The release marks Shakira’s return to the World Cup stage after her globally acclaimed hits Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) and La La La.
For Burna Boy, the collaboration makes him the second Nigerian artiste to feature on an official FIFA World Cup soundtrack after Davido, who appeared on “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
FIFA also announced that Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 tournament in Los Angeles on June 12.
The World Cup is scheduled to kick off on June 11, with Mexico facing South Africa at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
