Nwoko: Sponsoring 500 Students My Greatest Empowerment, Declares 2027 Re-election Bid
Senator Ned Nwoko has described his scholarship scheme benefiting over 500 students as his most impactful empowerment initiative, as he formally declared his intention to seek re-election for the Delta North Senatorial seat in 2027.
The lawmaker, who represents Delta North under the All Progressives Congress (APC), made this known while speaking with journalists upon his arrival at Asaba Airport alongside former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege.
Nwoko said although the 2027 senatorial race remains open to all aspirants, he is confident of victory, citing his track record and continued support from the Anioma people.
Highlighting his achievements, the senator stressed that investment in education remains a sustainable pathway to empowerment, noting that academic support for young people yields long-term benefits for families and communities.
“I can’t have 500 students on scholarship and you talk about empowerment. That is the best form of empowerment you can give to the people,” he said.
He added that his legislative efforts have focused on addressing critical needs in Delta North, including power supply, water infrastructure, road connectivity, and educational development.
Nwoko pointed to ongoing advocacy around improved electricity through the Okpai Power Plant, the completion of the Ogwashi-Uku Dam, and the proposed coastal road linking major communities in the state.
Reaffirming his commitment to the creation of Anioma State, the senator referenced earlier remarks by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, expressing optimism that the state would eventually be realized, with Asaba as its capital.
He also reiterated his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that he aligns with the administration’s policies and believes in its national direction.
Addressing supporters who gathered to welcome him, Nwoko urged them to remain steadfast and avoid what he described as “olden days politics,” emphasizing the need to consolidate progress in the region.
Following his declaration, the senator proceeded to Obior to attend the funeral of former Delta State Deputy Governor, Chief Benjamin Elu.
