Hollywood stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have reached a settlement in their high-profile legal battle over the film It Ends With Us, bringing an end to a contentious dispute that spanned nearly two years.

The agreement, reached just weeks before a scheduled trial in May 2026, avoids what was expected to be a highly public courtroom showdown involving allegations of misconduct during the film’s production.

The dispute began in late 2024 when Lively filed a lawsuit accusing Baldoni who directed and co-starred in the film of sexual harassment, retaliation, and fostering a hostile work environment on set. Baldoni denied the claims and responded with multi-million-dollar defamation lawsuits against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and media outlets.

Over time, many of the claims on both sides were dismissed by the courts, narrowing the case to a few remaining issues, including retaliation and breach of contract.  The looming trial was expected to further expose behind-the-scenes tensions from the making of the film, which itself focuses on themes of domestic violence.

In a joint statement following the settlement, both parties expressed pride in the film’s impact; particularly its role in raising awareness about domestic violence, and emphasized a shared commitment to maintaining safe and respectful working environments in the industry.

While the terms of the settlement remain confidential, the resolution effectively closes a chapter that had drawn widespread public attention, fueled by countersuits, leaked communications, and intense media scrutiny.

Industry analysts say the settlement may help both actors move forward professionally after a legal battle that had significant reputational and financial implications.
