The Headies Awards Postponed to April 2027 in Toronto, Organizers Expand Nigeria-Canada Programme

The organizers of The Headies Awards have announced a postponement of the 18th edition of the ceremony, shifting the grand finale from October 2026 to April 10 and 11, 2027, in Toronto, Canada.

The awards were originally scheduled to hold on October 23, 2026, before the announcement was made via the awards’ official Instagram page on Saturday.

According to the organizers, the revised schedule will allow them to expand the programme across Nigeria and Canada ahead of the Toronto finale.

“The road to the 18th Headies continues. We’re expanding the programme in Nigeria and Canada ahead of our Toronto finale, now scheduled for April 10 and 11, 2027,” the statement read.

The expanded programme will feature workshops, seminars, music industry events and a business and investment summit.

Activities under the “Road to The Headies” initiative will continue during the original event window, with full schedule updates to be published through the organizers’ official channels.

The organizers also apologized to guests, partners and attendees who had already made travel arrangements for the original dates.

“To guests who have already made travel plans and other arrangements, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and continued support. Further programme updates and guest information will be shared here,” the statement added.

The 18th edition marks The Headies’ expansion into Canada following previous international editions held in Atlanta, under the edition’s “Africa to the World” theme.

The wider programme will bring together music, industry engagement and business exchange, culminating in the awards and the Headies Global Trade & Investment Summit in Toronto.

The organizers did not give any other reason for the postponement beyond their plan to expand activities in Nigeria and Canada.

Confirmed calendar, venues and participation details will be announced through The Headies’ official channels.
