Mustapha Sule Lamido, son of former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2027 general elections in Jigawa State.

Lamido secured unanimous endorsement from party delegates across the 27 local government areas of the state during the PDP governorship primary exercise.

Chairman of the Electoral Committee deployed by the party’s national headquarters, Barrister Isah Ahmed, announced Lamido’s emergence, stating that no other aspirant contested the ticket.

According to him, delegates affirmed Lamido’s candidacy through a voice vote conducted under the supervision of the committee, after which he was officially declared the PDP governorship flag bearer for the 2027 election.

The consensus arrangement, party officials said, followed extensive consultations among stakeholders across the state, resulting in what they described as a peaceful and hitch-free process.

Jigawa State PDP Chairman, Babandi Ibrahim, congratulated Lamido and party supporters, commending members for the orderly conduct of the exercise.

Speaking after his emergence, Lamido said his nomination signified a renewed commitment to addressing hardship, poor governance and what he described as insensitive leadership in the state.

“We are not here to complain; we are here to provide solutions,” he said while pledging to provide accountable leadership and restore competence in governance.

The PDP candidate also promised to prioritise youth empowerment, education, healthcare, economic development and institutional reforms if elected in 2027.

He urged party members to remain united ahead of the polls, stressing that discipline, cooperation and commitment would be critical to the party’s success in the election.
