2027: APC Chairman Yilwatda Heads Abroad For Two-Week Vacation

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has left Nigeria for a two-week vacation as the ruling party moves into a crucial period of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Yilwatda’s vacation was announced in a statement on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, who said the APC chairman needed time to rest and reflect after a demanding first year in office.

The statement said Yilwatda had spent the past year travelling extensively and holding consultations with governors, members of the National Assembly, party leaders, state structures, elected officials and other stakeholders to strengthen the APC ahead of the next elections.

It also credited his administration with overseeing the party’s National Convention, strengthening its internal structures and conducting primary elections at various levels.

The APC said the vacation was not a withdrawal from his responsibilities but a brief opportunity for the chairman to recharge and develop strategies for the next phase of the party’s activities.

According to the statement, Yilwatda is expected to use the period to reflect on the 2027 elections, which the party described as critical to the future of the APC and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

The chairman is also expected to put finishing touches to plans for an upcoming National Working Committee retreat, where the party’s progress, emerging challenges and preparations for the 2027 electoral season will be reviewed.

The APC assured members that Yilwatda’s absence would not affect the administration of the party, noting that the National Working Committee would continue to perform its constitutional responsibilities.

Yilwatda is expected back in Nigeria after the two-week break to resume his official duties as the party steps up preparations for the 2027 elections.
