2027: Tompolo Launches Tinubu Grassroots Campaign in Katsina, Mobilises 34 LGAs

Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has taken his campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election into northern Nigeria, launching a door-to-door mobilisation drive across Katsina State ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Tompolo, founder and convener of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, unveiled the initiative in Katsina with the inauguration of 34 local government coordinators and the distribution of campaign vehicles to facilitate grassroots mobilisation.

The launch took place at the People’s Square in Katsina, with Tompolo represented by Kestin Pondi.

In a statement personally signed by Tompolo on Monday, he said the movement was established to deepen grassroots engagement and take the message of the Tinubu administration directly to Nigerians in their communities.

He described the relationship between President Tinubu and Katsina as one founded on trust, confidence and inclusion, urging members of the movement to intensify their engagement with residents across the state.

“Our responsibility is to go from door to door, from ward to ward and from community to community, engaging the people and explaining the programmes and achievements of President Tinubu’s administration,” Tompolo said.

The campaign vehicles presented at the launch were allocated to coordinators representing the state’s 34 local government areas.

Radda endorses Tinubu’s 2027 bid

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, used the occasion to reaffirm the state’s support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Radda described Katsina as a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress, saying the party has an extensive political structure across the state.

He assured the organisers that the state would support efforts aimed at strengthening Tinubu’s political base ahead of the election.

“Katsina State is an APC state. Every elected person in Katsina State is a member of the All Progressives Congress,” the governor said.

Radda added that Katsina had a special political relationship with Tinubu, which he traced to the President’s longstanding ties with prominent northern political figures.

He also recalled Tinubu’s involvement in the political process that led to the emergence of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari as the APC presidential candidate and Buhari’s victory in the 2015 presidential election.

Tompolo’s Katsina choice draws attention

The governor commended Tompolo for choosing Katsina as the first state in northern Nigeria to host the launch of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement.

According to Radda, the choice was significant given the historical relationship between northern Nigeria and the Niger Delta.

He cited the Presidential Amnesty Programme, established under the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, as an example of cooperation between the two regions.

Radda said initiatives that promote interaction between different geopolitical zones could contribute to national unity, peace and development.

Also speaking, the Katsina State coordinator of the Renewed Hope movement and former Deputy Governor, Tukur Jikamshi, said Katsina had historically played an important role in Nigeria’s political development.

Jikamshi said the APC remained firmly structured across the state’s 361 wards and 34 local government areas, adding that the existing political machinery would be deployed to strengthen grassroots mobilisation for the 2027 election.

He assured the organisers that members of the movement would step up engagements with residents in communities across the state as the campaign gathers momentum.
