Tinubu Rules Out Attending Every 2027 Campaign Rally, Cites Governance Demands
President Bola Tinubu has told members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council that he will not attend every campaign rally ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that governance and pressing national obligations must remain a priority.
Tinubu made this known on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, in Abuja during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
The President explained that his responsibilities as head of state would limit his participation in campaign activities across the country, urging council members to take the party’s message directly to Nigerians.
“So, you will excuse me from going everywhere with you, we have bills to pay. The American creditors cannot wait,” Tinubu said.
He stressed the need to balance political mobilisation with the demands of running the country, including meeting financial obligations and managing domestic and international commitments.
Tinubu directed members of the campaign council to reach voters across all states and local government areas, underscoring the importance of grassroots engagement in the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections.
Although he ruled out attending every physical rally, the President assured the council that he would still make time to address Nigerians directly as the campaign progresses.
His remarks signal a campaign arrangement in which the presidential candidate may limit his physical presence at rallies while party officials and campaign council members lead mobilisation efforts across the country.
The APC is preparing for the 2027 general elections, with the campaign council expected to coordinate the party’s outreach and communicate its message to voters nationwide.
