President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged residents and business owners in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to fulfill their tax and land-related obligations, saying the continued provision of roads and other critical infrastructure depends largely on citizens’ compliance with revenue payments.

The President made the call on Thursday during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N5 linking Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III in the Dape District of Abuja.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu said prompt payment of taxes, land charges and ground rents would strengthen the capacity of the FCT Administration to embark on more developmental projects.

Addressing residents and businesses benefiting from the newly completed road, the President stressed that government alone cannot sustain development without public cooperation.

“Pay your taxes. Clear your land fees and ground rents. Your compliance gives the FCT Administration the strength to build more roads like this one,” he said.

Tinubu described the road project as a product of the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that it was conceived, funded and completed under his administration.

According to him, the contract was awarded to Julius Berger Plc in October 2024 with a completion deadline of 15 months, which was successfully met.

The President said the project reflects his administration’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that improves mobility, supports economic growth and enhances the quality of life of residents.

He further declared that the era of abandoned government projects was over, assuring Nigerians that his administration remains focused on completing projects from conception to delivery.

“The days of endlessly abandoned projects are behind us. We are committed to ensuring that every project we begin is completed for the benefit of the people,” he said.

The newly commissioned Arterial Road N5 is expected to improve access to emerging districts within the capital city and reduce travel time for commuters in the rapidly expanding northern corridor of Abuja.
