Six Feared Trapped As Four Storey Hotel Under Construction Collapses In Enugu
13, 2026 — Six people are feared trapped after a four storey building under construction collapsed in Enugu on Sunday morning.
The building, reportedly being developed for use as a hotel, collapsed at about 8 a.m., sending heavy debris crashing onto the site and triggering a frantic rescue operation.
The victims are believed to be construction workers who were inside the uncompleted structure when it suddenly gave way. Residents and passersby reportedly joined emergency responders in efforts to locate and rescue those trapped beneath the rubble.
As of the time of filing this report, rescue operations were ongoing, although the heavy debris was said to be hampering efforts to reach those trapped.
The cause of the collapse had not been officially established, while authorities were yet to confirm any fatalities or issue a formal statement on the incident.
The incident has renewed concerns over construction safety, building supervision and enforcement of building regulations, particularly amid recurring cases of structural collapse across Nigeria.
Further details, including the identities and condition of those trapped, are expected as rescue operations continue.
