Shettima Departs Abuja to Represent Tinubu at 69th ECOWAS Summit in Sierra Leone

Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) holding in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

The summit, taking place on Sunday at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre, is expected to bring together West African leaders, policymakers and business stakeholders to deliberate on critical regional issues, including peace and security, democratic governance, economic growth and regional integration.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, the meeting forms part of ECOWAS’ mid-year statutory engagements.

The summit will consider key policy decisions and strategic resolutions aimed at strengthening cooperation among member states while reaffirming the bloc’s commitment to peace, democracy, economic integration and sustainable development across the region.

It will also provide an opportunity for leaders to review progress on regional priorities covering security, trade, infrastructure development and governance.

Vice President Shettima is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his official engagements in Sierra Leone.
