Nigerian Embassy Steps Up Hungary Scholarship Drive, Visits University of Dunaújváros
The Embassy of Nigeria in Hungary has intensified efforts to expand scholarship and higher education opportunities for Nigerian students following a visit to the University of Dunaújváros (DUE) to explore academic cooperation and promote the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme.
The visit formed part of the embassy’s ongoing school visitation and scholarship outreach aimed at connecting more Nigerian youths with international education and training opportunities.
The Nigerian delegation was led by Ambassador Abasi Braimah Ogwime and included the embassy’s Social Secretary, Dr Erika Madarász, and Daniel Etawo.
They were received by the university’s management team led by the Vice-Rector for Institutional Development and General Affairs, Dr Mónika Rajcsányi-Molnár.
Other university officials at the meeting included the Vice-Rector for Education, Dr László Balázs; Director of International Relations, Kitti Szabó; Director of Strategic Relations, József Fritz; and Social Relations Officer, Csaba Papp.
During discussions, the university management briefed the Nigerian delegation on its international degree programmes, available Stipendium Hungaricum scholarships and support services designed to help international students settle into academic life.
The delegation also toured the institution’s facilities, including its laboratories, and interacted with lecturers and Nigerian students to gain first-hand insights into the university’s learning environment and student experiences.
According to the university, 11 Nigerian students are currently enrolled at DUE, six of whom are beneficiaries of the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme.
Most of the Nigerian students are studying Computer Engineering, while others are pursuing degrees in Business Administration and Management, as well as Communication and Media Science.
The presence of Nigerian students across these disciplines highlights the opportunities available to young Nigerians seeking international qualifications in technology, business and communication.
The embassy said the visit was part of its broader efforts to strengthen educational ties with Hungarian institutions and secure more scholarship opportunities for Nigerian youths.
Through its engagement with universities, the embassy is seeking to increase awareness of available academic programmes and scholarship pathways while encouraging greater participation by Nigerian students in Hungary’s higher education system.
