First Lady Visits Sultan of Sokoto, Seeks Continued Prayers for Nigeria

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday paid a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, where she expressed appreciation for the monarch’s unwavering support and guidance to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking at the Sultan’s Palace in Sokoto, Senator Tinubu described the visit as an opportunity to personally thank the revered traditional ruler for his consistent counsel since the inception of the current administration.

The First Lady reflected on the longstanding relationship between their families, noting that the Sultan has remained a dependable voice, always offering guidance in the interest of the nation.

In his remarks, the Sultan stressed the need for Nigeria’s leaders to continually seek divine intervention in addressing the country’s security and social challenges. He prayed for those perpetrating violence and criminality across the country, expressing hope that they would genuinely repent and embrace peaceful living.

The monarch also commended Senator Tinubu for the impact of her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), saying the programme has positively transformed the lives of millions of Nigerians through interventions targeted at vulnerable groups.

Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, also lauded the First Lady’s visit, describing the Renewed Hope Initiative as a people-focused programme that has improved the welfare of women, youths, children, and families across the country.

The visit concluded with the Sultan inviting Islamic scholars (Ulama) to offer special prayers for Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu, the First Lady, the Sokoto State Governor, the Sultanate, and lasting peace and progress across the nation.
