Ukraine’s leading anti-corruption agencies have launched an operation targeting an alleged criminal organisation involving current and former lawmakers and senior officials from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) announced the operation on Wednesday, saying investigators were working to expose a group allegedly led by a current and a former member of parliament.

The agencies did not initially disclose the alleged offences or the full identities of those under investigation, saying further information would be released as the operation progresses.

Ukrainian media, citing a law-enforcement source familiar with the investigation, reported that NABU investigators were conducting searches involving Iryna Mudra, a deputy head of the Presidential Office, and lawmaker Vadym Stolar.

The Kyiv Independent reported that the searches formed part of the wider operation announced by NABU and SAPO. The agencies themselves have not publicly confirmed all details reported by local media.

The investigation comes at a sensitive time for Zelenskyy’s administration, which has faced sustained scrutiny over corruption and the independence of Ukraine’s anti-graft institutions.

NABU and SAPO have increasingly pursued cases involving senior officials and lawmakers. The anti-corruption bureau said earlier this month that it and SAPO had opened 360 new cases during the first half of 2026, with 107 people notified of suspicion and 76 convictions recorded during the period.

The latest operation is also likely to attract significant attention because of the involvement of figures connected to the Presidential Office. Any allegations involving senior officials could add to political pressure on Zelenskyy’s government as Ukraine continues to fight Russia’s invasion and pursue closer integration with the European Union.

However, the authorities have yet to provide details establishing what crimes the alleged organisation is suspected of committing, and the individuals reportedly targeted in the searches have not been convicted of any wrongdoing.

Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies have stressed that their investigations are aimed at uncovering high-level corruption and criminal networks, including those involving public officials.

More details are expected from NABU and SAPO as investigative actions continue and authorities disclose further information about the alleged organisation and those involved.
