Brighton Stage Stunning Comeback to Beat Manchester United 3-2 in Carabao Cup

Brighton & Hove Albion produced a remarkable comeback at Old Trafford on Wednesday, overturning a two-goal deficit to beat Manchester United 3-2 and knock the hosts out of the Carabao Cup in the third round.

Brighton completed the comeback when Maxim De Cuyper scored the decisive third goal, turning the tie completely around and sending the visitors into the next round.

The result represents a major disappointment for United, who had taken a 2-0 lead at home but were unable to protect their advantage.

The defeat also adds to the pressure surrounding Carrick after United’s loss to Manchester City at the weekend. Brighton, meanwhile, secured an impressive cup victory after demonstrating their ability to recover from a difficult opening spell.

The match was played without VAR, with the third-round Carabao Cup fixtures using the competition’s arrangements for the stage.

For Brighton, the comeback provides another memorable night at Old Trafford, while Manchester United are left to focus on their Premier League campaign after an early exit from the League Cup.
