President Bola Tinubu will present the 2027 federal budget to the National Assembly before the end of 2026, the Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Doris Uzoka-Anite, has confirmed.

The minister disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

“We are working on the 2027 budget, and our intention is to present it before the end of the year,” Uzoka-Anite said when asked about the timeline for the budget presentation.

The planned presentation is expected to allow lawmakers to begin scrutinising the government’s revenue projections, expenditure estimates and sectoral allocations ahead of the 2027 fiscal year.

Preparations for the fiscal plan are already underway. In a Personnel Costs Budget Call Circular dated September 4, 2026, the Budget Office of the Federation directed all ministries, departments and agencies to submit their 2027 personnel cost proposals alongside their establishment Acts.

The circular, signed by Budget Office Director-General Tanimu Yakubu, made it compulsory for MDAs to attach their establishing laws, a new requirement introduced after the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission uncovered fictitious agencies.

Agencies not captured on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System or the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System were also barred from receiving personnel cost provisions in the 2027 budget.

The minister also noted that the Federal Executive Council endorsed the National Development Plan 2026–2030, which she said was well received by the private sector at the recently concluded 32nd Nigerian Economic Summit.
