Agege to Get Six New Banking, Healthcare Centres as alt bank Expands Community Services
Residents of Agege, Lagos State, are set to benefit from improved access to banking and primary healthcare services as alt bank prepares to launch six integrated service centres across the local government area.
The facilities, known as AltBoxes, will be unveiled on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, through a partnership between the bank and Agege Local Government, led by its Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa.
The launch, scheduled for 11 a.m., will bring together representatives of alt bank, local government officials, community stakeholders and residents.
Each AltBox will feature two dedicated sections providing banking and primary healthcare services, creating a shared access point for essential services within local communities.
The arrangement is expected to ease the difficulty residents face in accessing conventional banking facilities and primary healthcare, particularly traders, individuals and small business owners.
The bank said the initiative is also designed to create employment opportunities and encourage greater participation in the local economy.
The initial six facilities form part of a wider expansion plan to establish an AltBox in each of the seven wards in Agege Local Government Area.
Under the arrangement, residents will have access to formal financial services and primary healthcare within their communities, reducing the need to seek the two services from separate locations.
alt bank said the project reflects its commitment to deepening financial inclusion by taking banking services closer to underserved populations rather than limiting access to conventional banking locations.
The healthcare component is equally central to the initiative, complementing the financial services and aligning with the bank’s HEART strategy, which recognises health as an important area of community investment.
The bank described the model as an example of how collaboration between financial institutions and local authorities can deliver practical solutions to community needs.
It said the initiative would also support broader economic participation by providing infrastructure that responds to the everyday needs of residents.
Beyond Agege, alt bank expressed readiness to partner with other local and state governments interested in replicating the model to expand access to primary healthcare and financial services.
The bank said such partnerships would help develop solutions tailored to local communities while creating economic opportunities.
alt bank began operations in January 2014 as a non-interest banking window within Sterling Bank. It became a standalone bank in July 2023 after receiving a banking licence from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Its operations are guided by an Advisory Committee of Experts and the principles of non-interest banking.
