Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Prince Harry will not be staying at the palace during his visit to the United Kingdom this week, contradicting earlier reports that the Duke of Sussex had accepted an invitation to be accommodated at a royal residence. The development has highlighted continuing tensions and communication difficulties between Harry’s team and the Royal Household.

According to palace sources, King Charles III had previously extended an offer of accommodation to Harry and his family during their planned visit. However, officials said the duke did not formally accept the invitation before the required deadline, prompting the palace to withdraw the arrangements after staffing and logistical preparations had been cancelled.

A spokesperson for Prince Harry acknowledged that the offer had ultimately been withdrawn, describing the decision as disappointing. The duke is expected to travel to Britain alone, while his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Archie and Lilibet, are not expected to accompany him to London because of ongoing concerns over security arrangements.

Prince Harry is visiting the UK to mark one year until the next Invictus Games in Birmingham and to participate in a series of charity engagements. The visit comes amid his long-running dispute with the British government over police protection after he stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to the United States.

The latest disagreement over accommodation has renewed public attention on the strained relationship between Prince Harry and the Royal Family. While palace officials insist the issue stemmed from missed deadlines and practical arrangements rather than a refusal to host the duke, royal commentators say the episode reflects the continuing challenges in rebuilding trust between both sides. Palace sources added that offers of accommodation at a royal residence could still be made for future visits if arrangements are confirmed in time.

The revised plans have also cast uncertainty over whether Harry will meet King Charles during the trip or whether his children will travel to Britain later in the week. No official meeting has been confirmed, and Buckingham Palace has declined to comment further on the family’s private arrangements.
