The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has dismissed claims of an attempted assassination on Lieutenant AM Yerima, following social media reports that he was trailed by unidentified persons in Kubwa on Sunday evening. The command described the allegations as false and unverified.

According to earlier reports, Lieutenant Yerima was allegedly trailed from the NIPCO Station off the Kubwa Motorway through to Gado Nasco Road by two unmarked white Hilux vans with occupants dressed in black. The officer reportedly conducted escape manoeuvres to evade the vehicles. Military sources confirmed that the incident is under investigation.

Reacting to the reports, the FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, stated, “The attention of the FCT Police Command has been drawn to publications circulating on social media alleging an attempted assassination on Lt Ahmed Yerima. The Command wishes to categorically state that no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory. The public is advised to disregard this false information and desist from spreading unverified claims capable of causing unnecessary panic.”

In a related development, the military has deployed personnel and eight patrol vehicles to the Gado Nasko Road area of Kubwa. This deployment, observed around 7 p.m. on Sunday, is believed to be connected to concerns for the officer’s safety following the alleged trailing incident, which occurred around 6 p.m. Military sources have reiterated that the matter is being investigated.

SP Adeh urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police division or contact the command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08068587311.
