The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has described reports circulating on social media alleging an influx of Fulani herdsmen into Anguwan Dobi in Gwagwalada Area Council as misleading and unverified.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the police said operatives were immediately deployed to the community and adjoining areas following the circulation of the reports and videos online.

According to the Command, the deployment was aimed at assessing the situation and verifying the claims being circulated on social media platforms.

The police said preliminary findings from the operation showed no unusual gathering, suspicious movement, or presence of individuals matching the allegations made in the reports.

The Command added that investigations were still ongoing to fully ascertain the facts surrounding the matter, while urging residents not to panic.

Residents of Gwagwalada Area Council were advised to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear, as security agencies continue monitoring the area.

The Police Command also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across the Federal Capital Territory and encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant.

It urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities or movements to the nearest police station or through the FCT Police Command emergency lines.
