The Federal Government is set to commence the dualisation of the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road, a major transport corridor connecting Oyo and Ogun states.

The project, aimed at improving road connectivity, easing movement and boosting economic activities along the corridor, is scheduled to be formally flagged off on Monday, August 24, 2026.

The flag-off ceremony will take place at the open field of Legacy Estate, along the Idi Ayunre axis of the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road in Ibadan.

Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, disclosed the development in an invitation dated August 20, 2026, addressed to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.

Umahi said the Federal Executive Council (FEC) had approved the award of the dualisation contract to JRB Construction Limited.

According to the minister, the project is part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and is designed to improve road infrastructure, enhance the travel experience of motorists and stimulate sustainable economic growth.

The Ibadan-Ijebu Ode corridor is a critical transportation route linking Oyo and Ogun states, while providing an important connection between Ibadan and the Lagos-Ogun economic axis.

The minister also emphasised the importance of involving traditional institutions and other stakeholders in the project, saying their participation would reinforce collaboration between the Federal Government, state governments and traditional authorities in infrastructure development.

Umahi consequently invited the Olubadan to the flag-off ceremony, describing it as a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to improve transportation infrastructure in the region.

When completed, the dualisation project is expected to increase the capacity of the road, improve connectivity and facilitate smoother movement of commuters, agricultural produce, goods and services between Oyo and Ogun states.
