Israel has confirmed carrying out a targeted military strike aimed at a commander within Hezbollah’s elite unit, in what marks a significant escalation in ongoing hostilities along the Israel-Lebanon front.

According to Israeli military sources, the operation specifically targeted a senior figure within Hezbollah’s “Radwan Force,” an elite unit believed to be responsible for cross-border operations and strategic attacks. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said the strike was conducted based on intelligence indicating the commander’s involvement in planning and coordinating attacks against Israeli territory.

While Israeli officials did not immediately disclose the identity of the targeted commander or confirm whether the individual was killed, they described the operation as “precise” and “necessary” to neutralize imminent threats.

Hezbollah has yet to release an official statement confirming casualties from the strike. However, Lebanese security sources and local media reports indicate that the attack took place in southern Lebanon, a region that has witnessed repeated exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters in recent months.

The Radwan Force, considered one of Hezbollah’s most highly trained units, has been a focal point of Israeli military concern due to its proximity to the border and its capability to launch incursions into Israeli territory.

This latest strike comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with both sides engaging in near-daily exchanges since the outbreak of broader regional instability linked to the Gaza conflict. Analysts warn that continued targeted strikes on high-ranking operatives could trigger retaliatory attacks and further destabilize the fragile security situation along the northern border.

International observers have repeatedly called for restraint, expressing concern that escalating tit-for-tat attacks could spiral into a wider regional conflict.
