The search for the next James Bond has officially begun, with Amazon MGM Studios confirming that auditions are now underway to find the actor who will become the next 007.

The studio announced that casting is in progress, marking the first major step in the franchise’s next era following Daniel Craig’s final appearance in No Time to Die (2021). Reports indicate that the audition process began quietly several weeks ago before being formally confirmed this week.

The upcoming Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, known for Dune and Blade Runner 2049, while Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is writing the screenplay. Producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman are also attached to the project, signalling a major creative reset for the long-running spy franchise.

Casting is being led by acclaimed casting director Nina Gold, whose credits include Game of Thrones, The Crown, and major Star Wars projects. She has been tasked with identifying a new generation-defining actor for the iconic role.

Industry reports suggest the studio is leaning toward a younger British actor in his 20s or 30s, with several rising stars already being discussed in entertainment circles. Names such as Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Harris Dickinson have all appeared in speculation lists, although no shortlist has been officially confirmed.

While excitement builds among fans, studio executives have stressed that the process is being handled carefully, with no rush to announce a successor.

Although casting has officially started, production is not expected to begin until around 2027, with the film likely targeting a release window later in the decade.
