Japan and Vietnam are moving to strengthen cooperation in energy and critical minerals as both countries look to reduce supply chain vulnerabilities amid rising geopolitical tensions and global resource competition, according to multiple international policy and industry reports.

Japanese officials have been increasingly focused on securing stable supplies of rare earths, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and other strategic minerals needed for advanced manufacturing and clean energy transition.
