Otutochi “Tochi” Wigwe, daughter of late Nigerian banking executive Herbert Wigwe, has married investment professional Wilson Omogbale Aikhomu in a traditional wedding ceremony in Lagos.

The private ceremony took place in Ikoyi on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, bringing together members of the Wigwe and Aikhomu families, alongside close friends and well-wishers.

Photographs and videos from the occasion circulated on social media on Thursday, showing the bride in traditional attire as she celebrated with guests. The ceremony featured customary marriage rites, including the payment of the bride price, signing of family documents and the formal presentation of the bride to her husband’s family.

The marriage marks a significant new chapter for Tochi, who lost her father, mother and younger brother in a helicopter crash in California, United States, on February 9, 2024.

Her father, Herbert Wigwe, was the former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings and one of Nigeria’s most prominent banking executives. He died alongside his wife, Chizoba, and their son, Chizi, when the helicopter carrying them crashed near Nipton, California. The accident also claimed the lives of former Nigerian Exchange Group Chairman, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, and two crew members.

Tochi has remained involved in preserving her father’s legacy through the Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe Foundation, also known as the HOW Foundation, where she serves as a director.

She studied at New York University and obtained a master’s degree from Imperial College London. She previously worked as an analyst at Access Bank and interned at Coronation Merchant Bank.

Her husband, Wilson Aikhomu, is a Lagos-based investment professional and Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Zoya Admiralty. He is the son of the late Rear Admiral Joseph Omozuwa Aikhomu and nephew of former Chief of General Staff, Admiral Augustus Aikhomu.

Aikhomu studied Finance at California State University, Northridge, before obtaining a qualification in Investments and Risk Finance from the University of Westminster. He previously worked with Leadway and RMB Stockbroking.

A tribute shared by Tochi’s aunt celebrated the union while remembering her late parents and brother. Drawing on Isaiah 61:3, the message described the occasion as “beauty for ashes”, expressing gratitude for the family’s opportunity to witness Tochi’s new beginning despite the loss.

The wedding has attracted congratulatory messages from Nigerians online, with many wishing the couple happiness as they begin their married life together.
