Fighting between Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has continued despite an extended ceasefire agreement, raising fresh concerns over the stability of the region and the effectiveness of diplomatic efforts to end the violence.

The temporary truce, brokered by international mediators, was intended to create space for humanitarian aid delivery and de-escalation along the volatile Israel-Lebanon border. However, reports from multiple sources indicate that sporadic clashes, airstrikes, and rocket fire have persisted, undermining the fragile agreement.

Lebanese health authorities have confirmed that the death toll has now exceeded 3,000, with thousands more injured and large-scale displacement reported across southern Lebanon. Civilian infrastructure, including homes, hospitals, and schools, has suffered extensive damage, deepening the humanitarian crisis.

Israeli officials maintain that continued military operations are necessary to neutralize threats posed by Hezbollah, citing ongoing rocket attacks targeting northern Israeli communities. Hezbollah, on the other hand, has vowed to sustain its resistance, accusing Israel of violating the ceasefire terms and targeting civilian areas.

International reactions have intensified, with the United Nations and global powers calling for immediate restraint and a return to full compliance with the truce. Humanitarian agencies warn that the situation is rapidly deteriorating, with limited access to medical care, food, and shelter for affected populations.

Diplomatic efforts are ongoing to salvage the ceasefire and prevent a broader regional escalation. Analysts warn that if violations continue, the conflict risks spiraling into a wider war with severe implications for the Middle East.
