Nigerian Embassy In Qatar Delivers Passports Within Two Weeks

The Nigerian Embassy in Qatar has recorded a sharp improvement in passport processing, with applicants now receiving newly produced passports in about two weeks following biometric capture.

The development followed a 10 day passport intervention exercise conducted by the embassy in Doha from August 11 to 21, 2026.

During the exercise, the mission processed passport applications for 751 Nigerian nationals. The figure comprised 441 applications for five year passports and 310 applications for 10 year passports.

The completed passports began distribution on September 18, less than a month after the biometric capture exercise ended, marking a significant reduction in the waiting period for applicants.

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Qatar, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, described the development as a major milestone in the mission’s efforts to strengthen consular service delivery.

According to him, the faster turnaround demonstrates the embassy’s commitment to responding to the needs of Nigerians in Qatar and ensuring that citizens can access essential travel documents without prolonged delays.

Yakubu said passports are critical to Nigerians living abroad, particularly for international travel, employment and maintaining valid residency status.

The latest intervention comes as demand for consular services continues to increase among the Nigerian community in Qatar, prompting the mission to pursue measures aimed at improving efficiency and reducing processing delays.
