Nigerian Olayinka Babalola Emerges President of Rotary International
Nigerian Rotarian Olayinka Hakeem Babalola will officially assume office as President of Rotary International on July 1, 2026, becoming only the second African to lead the global humanitarian and service organisation.
Babalola, a member of the Rotary Club of Trans Amadi, Nigeria, will serve a one-year term at the helm of the worldwide membership organisation, which has millions of members committed to humanitarian service and community development across the globe.
During his tenure, he is expected to prioritise strengthening Rotary’s role in promoting peacebuilding while advancing sustainable, community-led initiatives that address local and global challenges.
His agenda will also focus on improving lives through projects that empower communities, foster collaboration and deliver lasting social impact.
Babalola’s emergence marks a significant milestone for Nigeria and the African continent, underscoring the growing influence of African leaders in global service and humanitarian organisations.
