NLC Declares Indefinite Strike In Delta Over Death Of Civil Servant

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Delta State Council has declared an indefinite strike across the state following the reported death of a deputy director in the state Ministry of Secondary Education.

The deceased, identified as Mr Unity Adedah, reportedly died on Thursday morning after he was allegedly tied up and assaulted by suspected thugs.

The NLC said the incident was allegedly linked to the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu.

However, the allegation has not been independently verified, and the commissioner’s response to the claim was not immediately available.

Declaring the strike, the NLC Chairman in Delta State, Dr Goodluck Oforbruku, addressed protesting civil servants at the Chike Edozien Secretariat in Asaba.

The labour leadership called for action over the circumstances surrounding Adedah’s death, as workers gathered at the state secretariat to protest the incident.

The indefinite industrial action is expected to affect government activities across Delta State as the labour union seeks accountability over the reported death.
