66th Independence: NCPC Boss Seeks Prayers For Peaceful 2027 Elections

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Prof. Stephen Adegbite, has called for prayers for peace and a successful conduct of the 2027 general elections as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

Adegbite made the call in an Independence Day statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, congratulating Nigerians and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the anniversary.

The NCPC Executive Secretary said the country’s 66 years of independence since October 1, 1960, was a significant milestone deserving of thanksgiving, despite the challenges confronting the nation.

He urged Nigerians to unite and support efforts aimed at moving the country forward, stressing that national development required collective commitment from citizens.

Adegbite commended Nigerians for what he described as their patience, resilience, perseverance and determination to build a better country.

He also commended President Tinubu for what he described as quality leadership, urging the President to remain focused on the task of governing the country and not be distracted.

While acknowledging the challenges facing Nigeria, the NCPC boss expressed optimism that the difficulties would be overcome, urging citizens to remain hopeful and committed to the nation’s progress.

On the 2027 elections, Adegbite solicited collective prayers for a peaceful electoral process, expressing the belief that God’s will would ultimately prevail.

He also called on Nigerians in the Diaspora to contribute to national development and participate in what he described as the ongoing economic re-engineering under the Tinubu administration.

Adegbite congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad for witnessing the 66th Independence Anniversary, urging citizens to continue working together for the progress and development of the country.
